Suffragist, an excerpt.

Suffragist, 2015

Single channel HD video (6min), prepared robotic furniture, woven tapestry, tufted wall hangings, slip-cast ceramics, dyed doillies. First shown at Interlude Gallery, July 2015. Abridged version shown at Casula Powerhouse January 2014.

A hundred years ago, British Suffragettes engaged in pitched battle to gain the vote. We have largely forgotten the white-hot, personal, radical fury that propelled their insurrection. What must it have meant, to outrun their own inner resistance, as they transformed themselves from  well-respected members of society into bomb-throwing, police-flipping revolutionaries? What is the phenomenology of radicalisation?
